The battery metaphor is because social situations are exhausting, not because they are inherently stressful.

An introvert shouldn’t be sweating on a full or half full social battery, that would be a symptom of anxiety which is something else.

People online often use “introvert” interchangeably with “social anxiety” and “agoraphobia”. Someone will be like “if I have to make a phone call I have a panic attack and vomit lol so introverted right?”

I’d hope that if someone is sociophobic they’re also introverts.

Imagine being an extrovert but afraid of other people. You’d be super screwed.

But you’re right that being an introvert is not a disorder. It’s just needing alone time to recharge.

They are exhausting because they are stressful. As well, most introverts would be assumed to suffer from some sort of social malady such as socially-induced anxiety, which is why they would be introverts in the first place instead of extroverts.

It’s almost like these things are linked and that’s the situation this comic is trying to portray (plus a little punchline at the end for some humor)

    “Until I die?!”

“No, until the end of the comic. We’re in the last panel, what did you expect?”

    “And the pile of corpses?”

    “Oh yeah, they’re dead alright.”
