Assuming someone was happily cis, if they fall into a sex change trap it’s obvious what happened, what’s wrong, and what they need to fix to solve it and get “back to normal”
Fall into a gender change trap, you might not even notice what’s wrong, initially. You might spend weeks, months, years feeling bad in your own skin and not understanding why, or what’s wrong, or how to fix it.
Which is essentially the trans experience.
Gender change traps are a lot more insidious and evil than sex change ones, and I think we know this.

If you didn’t know, this is a reference to Tomb Of Horrors, an AD&D module where this is a real trap. It changes “gender” (in context it also means sex), and alignment to the opposite of the character.
