i don’t even use menus anymore. it’s slow. heck I even hate using the mouse these days. We had the right idea back in the 80s and early 90s by running everything via the command line. it’s faster. Now to open stuff I just use a launcher. it’s faster to type what I want to run then it is to use a mouse to go find it in a menu.
On Linux, I can pull up the system menu, type in a few letters of what I want to launch, and hit enter to get it started in less than 2 seconds, without having to open or switch windows to a terminal. Done right, there’s nothing wrong with menus.

That’s what I do in Windows, but I hit the Windows key instead of Enter

Yeah but as per the post, windows menu is taking forever to open…
On specific systems/installs. That isn’t the norm.
For me, the Windows key stroke can often be part of the next few letters I’m searching for, and my machine is a mid-range (at-best) build from 2020.
And that was before I installed an app that gets rid of most of the junk in the Start menu, turning into just a Search field with a power button! Lol
on linux, I can just start typing what I want to launch. No menu needed.
Well you have to be typing it somewhere
As long as I am not actively using a window thats capturing input, it can be anywhere.
On my Linux PC, it’s KDE that enables that. Is awesome. YMMV
This is the thing - with advanced systems, which they should all be now, context can drive behavior.
keyBindings with a simple windowManager is even faster than the command line :)
