most of my apps have automated backups. That backup folder is synced to my laptop by syncthing. This way i always have an up to date backup of my mobile. Might indeed be what you’re asking for.

one question though, lets say my phone did get lost and I got a new one. Would I just put syncthing on the new phone to send it all back?

you will need to import those exported backups to your newly installed apps. You can’t sync android’s protected directories.

what makes them “failures”?

i hate windows and i don’t use Ubuntu but it’s difficult to consider Microsoft or Canonical as failures.

But societies need a great diversity of ideas, initiatives and organizations who can be tested and sifted until the best ones remain.
