Ahhh, I’ve not had that issue happen yet myself, explains why this looked like cooking gone really, horribly awry to me and not something obvious.

That is not what bread dough is supposed to look like, though, even uncooked or undercooked. Am I nuts? Like, I’ve seen bread dough before, and that just looks… wrong, from my experience; but then I admit I don’t make my own bread very often.

Just looking at that gives me the ick. It’s rare that something ostensibly edible, and as ordinary as bread (or something that’s supposed to be bread) can do that, that’s impressive.
I want to hear what recipe they followed and, more importantly, how closely they followed it. This reeks of “actually I substituted [completely ordinary ingredient you can buy at any convenience store even at 3am in the middle of nowhere for approximately 2 dollars] for [something that has no business being near this dish, let alone in this dish, but that they had in their cupboard], I don’t know why it turned out so awful though!”

11·7 days agoI wish it were fall vacation, and normalized for even adults (around the world, not just as a job benefit for some but as a fact of life) to take at least a month off somewhere between late August and the end of October. That’s peak time to go outside and enjoy the changing weather, perfect temperature for a light jacket, enjoy the scenery with all the trees changing colors, etc – the middle of summer’s just too fucking hot, now. You’re either boiling alive in the sun or it’s pissing rain, and no in-between. It’d probably do wonders for the average person’s mental health, and air quality/the environment, too, if everyone just took a month off around the same time each year and it was just a thing you were expected to have.
Buuuuut line must go up and we’ve got pumpkin spice lattes to sell, so.

2·11 days agothey do, but I’m not enough of a watch collector to necessitate owning one (I have a grand total of two, the two I just listed, and one is usually on my wrist)

14·11 days agohonestly, I like my Seiko mechanical watch, but there would be periods I wouldn’t wear it and then have to re-set the time often enough that it irritated me and I got a Citizen Eco-Drive, and I fucking love the thing. It does everything I need from a watch: tells me the date, tells me the time, has an easy way to switch on/off DST, even automatically accounts for leap years and has a few functions like a stopwatch and a timer that I never use; but it doesn’t play stupid games like modern tech and it never needs winding.
Having said that, seeing the winding mechanism through the clear back glass of my Seiko is magical in a way you can’t get from any electronic watch.
Being fair, all they’re missing in comparison of the era between “post 9/11 and pre smartphone” (from my experience) was a lot of snotty teachers saying YOU WON’T ALWAYS HAVE A CALCULATOR WITH YOOOOUUUU
Eat shit Mrs. Miller, I do and have for the last decade and a half. It doesn’t make me much happier but at least I don’t need to remember how to do long division on paper anymore, and that does make me happy.
And so it begins, the beginning of the end.
On the upside, someone will probably scrape the data and copy it now, if we’re all wise enough to groan wearily at this news reflexively.
So, y’know. On to the next thing, eventually, whenever that comes along.
