    It needs to be an optional secondary layer/addon, so it can’t enshittify the whole eco-system. ‘Monetization’ IS enshittification and will only get worse: popups, ads, fake accounts/recommendation, and all the other std scams will follow if a humble wish to support creators, becomes intrinsic monetization of the ecosystem !

    Btw. This is just one of the main paths to shape the public opinion/information space. They promote people and projects that align with their future, and hammers away on those that doesn’t. That’s all it takes. Do that 24/7 over years to a lifetime, and they can - and DO - beat activist voices/critique, and shape the opinions on everything from Academia, to Capitalist free market economics, to what human ‘nature’ is, to vilifying every ideological/scientific opponent so they can attack their enemies with no moral repercussions, and everything in between that suits them. Oh, and they own/control basically all western media and control/pay for their favourite 'NGO’s like ‘human rights’ etc, that play into their hands, but really don’t give 2 fcks about…

    So, this is not just about enshittification/control of the open source world.

    This whole western manipulation scheme is well-known, documented, and is also called “Manufacturing consent”, “The Blue Church” etc, and you CANNOT escape it if you are not aware of it !     I think it’ll get harder and harder to find ‘pure’ distros. For a while you can maybe rely on something similar to Gnu linux-libre kernel that removes proprietary blobs, or BSD, or Gnu Hurd kernels etc, but linux-libre is already a pain if you need certain hw drivers, and eventually an anti-ai kernel will become crippled even worse, and it will become too hard to keep track of what kernels/parts of kernels is AI assisted code or not.

    In the future, more and more new features will be from ai assisted code, and pretty soon, the anti-ai kernel will lose out to ai-assisted kernels in features, speed and soon stability (bug-finding etc).

    The same goes for the rest of the distros that tries to avoid ai-assisted tools and code, and you/others will imho get completely swamped by this transformation. In fact, you will most certainly need an agent to keep constant track of this development.

    I’m okay with AI, but I kind of feel for those trying to avoid it. Its hard enough just to avoid proprietary crap, and to me, avoiding ai-assists, is an even bigger mountain to climb. I do wish you all best of luck on that journey.

    Ps. There ARE fully open models trained on fully libre with open libre data-sets, and for you - ethical data oriented - you could/should? probably accept that ‘non-pure’ situation, and use such an open llm to either maintain an ethical distro, or keep unethical ai-assist as low as you can get away with, for as long as you can.

    We are talking about “Property” - the core foundation of Capitalism. The holy grail of exploitation. Everything in this manufactured belief-system must have an owner and a price, and that price can only be forced upon others with ‘property-rights’ + top-down force (acab’s).

    So, just about everything in our sick western fascist/oligarch societies is centered around ‘Property’ and the ideological right and moral duty to maximise profits from that property -> extortion.

    The balance might shift slightly/temporarily if a huge cnt are fighting other huge cnt’s, but will NOT go away as long as Capitalism is the sole driver of western societies. Maximum property-rights are the steaming turd every Capitalist cnt are eating/craving.

    More infighting is imho better as it slows down this pscho ideology…
