It’s an older clip, sir, but it checks out.

It’s an older clip, sir, but it checks out.
That could be a perverse incentive to have businesses curtail their excretions.
Advertising is the most prolific form of environmental pollution wrought by commerce.
It needs to become as socially acceptable as smoking, and every instance of it must be exhaustively scrutinised and required to be justified.

As an intellectual discipline, economics is closer to theology than physics, with finance an entirely arbitrary, cherry picked subset of rules to justify a particular economic model.
Economics is the control mechanism that filled the void in society, vacated by religion, after the Enlightenment. Every economic model is functionally equivalent to any flavour of religion, just with a little extra accounting blended in.
We did away with one unhinged narrative construct, things can’t get better until the current dominant fantastical conjuring is dispelled.

20 years ago, technically competent people had an integral role in the development and use of tech. That position is now infested with people who think economics is a science and money is real.

I see that as an example of being sick and scared.

Authoritarianism is an admission of abject weakness.
White supremacists are the weakest and most brittle snowflakes.

A healthy, broadly educated population, which feels safe and secure, is incompatible with, and toxic to, conservative and authoritarian ideologies.
They need you to be sick, stupid, and scared.

OK, I don’t use them. Thanks for the explanation.

Why would that be necessary? They’ll freely and readily identify themselves.

Understanding, context[0].
Computers are particularly adept at iteration, and LLMs are an application that leverages this effectively. To wit, I’ll concede LLMs are ‘AI’, where that initialisation represents Accelerated Iteration, or in management as Amplified Incompetence, but as an example of Intelligence, that remains for those who are proud of their lack of the naturally occurring variety.
[0]: to frame a larger memory pool as a ‘context window’ is a misnomer, as context requires understanding and comprehension.

Thanks for proving my point, your service is invaluable.
LLMs are explosively imprecise, statistically luke-warm, grey goo extrusion sphincters. They can’t produce anything novel, at best they can reveal potentially plausible information from the data they were trained on, which then requires proven domain expertise to validate.
Intelligence requires comprehension, a trait LLMs are intrinsically incapable of performing.

I don’t trust anyone who is impressed by LLMs enough to consider them to be in any way adjacent to intelligence.

Same, my comment is an extension of that more common notion.

A backwards ticking clock appears accurate more frequently than a stopped one.
Nobody has provided ‘AI’, at least if those characters are intended to be an initialisation of Artificial Intelligence.
Whenever anyone is impressed by the function or output of a LLM to the level they’re convinced it’s a representation of intelligence, their input and opinion of the targeted subject should be summarily dismissed, and if they persist, ridiculed.
This is exactly why economics, or any discipline, should not be permitted to dictate the function or structure of a system in a domain outside of its area of expertise.
