  • I had a similar experience, though I read about it here a few days before Youtube started pushing videos about how Omarchy supposedly is the reason that everybody must switch to Linux now.

What I have gathered, without being more than moderately interested:

    • Some guy made a compositor / tiling window manager named Hyprland. According to its wikipedia article, its main selling points appear to be dynamic tiling, keyboard centric usage, and some fancy blur algorithm.
    • Hyprland appears to have had some kind of freemium monetization model, where you had to pay extra for the full version. I.e. unlike the vast majority of Linux and its ecosystem, not FOSS. Perfectly legal of course, but could still be considered a dick move to not give as much back to a community where most other people are giving away their work for free.
    • The guy who makes Hyprland reinforces his image as a douchebag by posting racist far right rants on his blog and other places.
    • Omarchy is (was?) a script which installs Hyprland on Arch.
    • Omarchy/Hyprland is riddled with ridiculously bad security issues, allegedly as a result of relying heavily on vibe coding.
    • Some rich guy decides to give a lot of money to Omarchy/Hyprland, so the developer can let people use Hyprland for free, and rebrand Omarchy as a Linux distribution.

  • There are no in-game classes, you just buy whatever weapons, equipment and vehicles you want. The only soft limit is the cost of items, and I assume that’s something they’re going to continue adjusting. The different classes only exists out of game, where you have different XP tracks. I.e. to unlock more sniper weapons and equipment you have to do sniper-y stuff while playing first.

At least the early assault rifles which I had access to in the beta were pretty crap at range, so IMO it has less of the “everybody is a sniper” feeling of HLL :D I think any semi-realistic game with a huge map tends to naturally favour sniping to some degree.
