Ages ago I had mimicked the “overhead scanner” with a mounted digital camera, but now I’d go with a mounted smartphone + light bars + bluetooth photo trigger. Scrolling through Bezos’ was pretty depressing in terms of cost/quality and even a $150 device seemed like a repurposed webcam, with a sole non-free confirmed buyer saying it died after 3 months while freebies praise it lol. As long as you don’t scan drawings/designs/comic books - just set lights evenly and that’d be enough, and even moreso if you OCR it and turn a scan into an e-book where visual fidelity stops to matter.

To sustain themselves as a business, afford funny dresses and enormous headquarters, they could’ve artifically created a market of cheaply produced soul gems and spellscrolls, and I’m pretty sure there can also be stories of how they outsourced their production to poorest provinces while leveraging Empire’s influence to beat traditional local producers/guilds - a conflict we see in Morrowind with Brotherhood/Thieves vs Morag/Camonna Tong. Necromants somehow appear as a double villain to MG, because, besides necromancy and stuff, their sect also produces their own black soul gems of bigger energy capacity.

That’s fine to have a facelift for Oblivion, but I would’ve prefered if they opened up their flagship franchise to other teams so we could have Oblout: New Skingrad or whatever, with a compelling and grounded story.

I liked the idea from another article about Whatsapp webview app: if Microsoft itself doesn’t invest time and resources to write native apps, who would care to? They themselves set a low standard switching app platforms and writing web wrappers, and it’s naive to think this stops at bare Win11 being bloated - it means most other apps would also be created as bloatees. Resource consumptions just explodes, and so does the head of the end user whose brand new PC can’t handle basic desk job and work chats.

I find it amusing that they tried to automate it with variables, etc, but seemingly wanted to make LLM generate a new response every time. Standard once written or even generated rejection form could’ve been more economically sound. But, but - then you wouldn’t up the metrics of AI usage in your department!
