9·13 days agoi’m gonna guess it was a staged photo using a hastily-prepped pc as a prop.
i have one of those already. my bookmarks file on the home pc, which began life ~ early 2001 and has thousands (10s of thousands… probably) of entries. it’s been ‘de-duped’ a few times over the years, but i’ve never ran a dead-link checker on them.

1·4 months agoeven without shady stuff. it’s just common sense. disconnect the ‘computer’ from the ‘display’ so you don’t need to replace both when the ‘computer’ becomes obsolete–and it will, usually, before the ‘display’ quits working. don’t connect it. if you want ‘smart tv’ functionality, get a cheaper and easier-to-replace streaming device of your choice instead.
beware of models or brands you have to go online with just to ‘set up’. more and more are ‘requiring’ internet access and/or an ‘account’ just to turn on and use as a ‘dumb’ display.
anything worth doing is worth half-assin’
