Not the coffee thing but John Le Carre has a great series of books that are kind of the spy version of Reacher’s army persona.

It’s a group of Saturday detention kids from the 80s. A slice of teen life movie. You could probably see if there’s still similar concepts or what’s changed about society since. It has many flaws but raises a number of issues that teens faced around that time.
