  • I am not a WWII expert and don’t know which unit his grandfather was in, with that in mind the Wehrmacht was a draft army and many non-Nazis were forced into the military and died “for their country” to protect their own families (if only from the consequences of their refusing to serve).

That’s a man’s duty to his family in my opinion, and I can’t hate him for that. Many were executed for refusing to serve, also asset forfeiture and working in camps. If I had children, in their position, I would have served in the hopes of keeping them alive and well (not knowing that the entire country would be razed in a few years).

My grandfather served US Navy against the Japanese, he was a submariner. Until the day he died in his 80s he refused to tie his shoes, and any shoes that he wore had to be loose so that he could kick them off. He usually wore slippers.

Later, I found out that this was because his submarine was sunk, and he almost died trying to get his boots off to swim to the surface. He refused to talk about any of it to anybody.

Horrifying. I’m sorry for all of the “good people” involved on every side of the war.

    I’ll GTFO now

  • Both Russia and Ukraine were already using A.I. in multiple drone models before the fully autonomous drones emerged. In those earlier models, A.I. is used only for what is known as the “last mile” — the final stage of the attack, after a remote human pilot has selected the target. Fully autonomous A.I. removes humans from the final target selection.

Not much different from what they were already doing.

Once we hear about such things, it’s been happening for years. I suspect they have been testing AI for a decade and are now refining it. Like a beta.

Look at the construction on that captured drone; looks like it would cost five dollars at a garage sale. Virtually the only cost of these things would be the electronics, even the explosives are cheap.

So, every time that you’ve “proved” that you’re human by selecting “what is a crosswalk?” and so on, it’s just one more data point for an autonomous killer robot made of Styrofoam. It’s not even cool like a T-800 Terminator robot.

  • The ones I am familiar with just beep loudly with the reason why super-imposed barely legibly on the dash.

Constantly distracting, for me I’d rather pay attention to the road then look for your various pop-ups.

I am not exaggerating, anytime you’d look away from the road it would alert. There’s another road there and I am looking at the traffic. Shut the fuck up.

ETA it resets with an update. Intolerable.

I am not buying a new car again, something has happened to quality and design standards in my opinion. Old man yelling at clouds.
