Doing nothing for the last 6 months or so is the only way they can pull this off. Do you really believe that they had no clue all that these kids were in jeopardy before this 5-day period? They just happened to figure it all out just now? I don’t believe it. I think that they had plenty of tips and clues but they left them sitting in their to-do boxes until someone up the chain decided that they needed a PR win. Then they put in the effort to go and rescue these kids as quickly as they could just so they could pat themselves on the back and get some good headlines before the midterms.

I beg to differ. It should be required that manufacturers of such chemicals do the research to show that their product is safe before they allow its manufacture and workers to be exposed and the chemical to be dumped into the environment.

Emphasis mine. They’ve approved chemicals for use in manufacturing and have redacted much of the approval notice so that no one can double check their work. If this lawsuit fails, we may not know how bad these chemicals are until they are sickening and killing workers and wildlife.

Probably because until now it there wasn’t a reasonable expectation to win. Before the last cycle or two, the few progressive candidates that had the resources to run tended to get plowed under in the primaries and rarely saw the light of day by the time the general elections rolled around. That will hopefully change now because of victories like this and the fact that progressives are now seen to be winning in primaries around the country, even against established, old-guard democrats. Many more progressive hopefuls may now see a realistic path to office and throw their hats into the ring allowing even more establishment dems to be rousted from office.

As you can see, I’m very hopeful that this is the start of something big. I know that there are many things that could derail this, not the least of which is the authoritarian take over of the federal government, but hope is what I got, so I’m clinging to it. If the nation survives another election or two, we could see huge changes in this country.

Yes, because they need to maintain the narrative that progressive candidates are ‘fringe’ and only ever win by chance or cheating.
