These protections work at different layers and hence, you use both.
First off, you can’t really encrypt the first boot loader by design, your UEFI needs something it can read and run. You need to protect this first boot stage somehow, and this is what Secure Boot is for; it verifies the signature of the payload it starts to protect it against tampering.

It doesn’t matter. A steward can ask you to return to your seat and be quiet and doesn’t have to give a single reason. And if you don’t comply they can have the plane land immediately to get you removed just because you didn’t follow their orders. And when asked, they can just say that the passenger’s behavior was distracting them from their safety related duty
The hope wasn’t that the game would dominate the existing FGC, but that the IP would have such a massive pull that it would expand the FGC so much (and in the longer term, make the players be l branch into other games in the genre).
I don’t know what Riot expected, the genre is niche and from what I’ve heard, the game wasn’t very accessible in the first place, basically trading old hard stuff against new one (not that me being on Linux could have tried it myself), so yeah. My league friends didn’t even try it
And say what you want about SNK and their Saudi money, there’s a lot of valid criticism, but CotW is probably the best-supported and fairest game currently out.
