Yeah, it’s infuriating how much potential they are leaving on the table here. My camera has a clock to put the correct time into the exif data, but it’s not possible to set up the camera so that it does take a picture every few seconds or every few minutes. That should be possible right out of the box.

Technology@lemmy.world•GTA 6 leaks: Rockstar's nightmare or just a blip?English
7·5 days agoYeah - and even if it is leaked, there might be people playing an unfinished build, but they will be enthusiasts buying the full version at launch.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit fades from ChatGPT citationsEnglish
13·5 days agoIf you’ve been at Reddit for a while, you recognize all those blantant bot-driven reposts. It’s really something. The same old screenshot of some tweet being reposted hundreds of times. The same questions in /r/askreddit with the same old answers. Memes that are repeating on a fixed schedule. The same ragebait content enraging the second generation of a family.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta glasses are a workplace menaceEnglish
8·5 days agoThere’s also the root problem of employees having no agency to kick out misbehaving people. There’s this whole “the customer is king” ethos in American commerce and this is enabling the worst people to harass people without any consequences. If you are getting kicked out and banned from most stores in your town because you are an abusive asshole, you might think again about your behavior and maybe even change. If everything that is coming from your bad behavior is that some random employee is getting fired, yes, this will enable even worse behaviour.

Wikipedia is out there and it’s really easy to contribute if you’re not an idiot and read the sensible editing rules beforehand.

Technology@lemmy.world•GTA 6 leaks prompt Take-Two to subpoena Microsoft for Windows device IDs of everyone in three Discord servers — daily gameplay leaks shatter cloud of secrecy around the much-hyped gameEnglish
81·5 days agoThat also gives you several other informations:
- If Discord can read the device ID, every other website or program can?
- If Discord can’t and courts are forcing Microsoft to give out that data for Take2 to correlate IP adresses or other data, that is also really bad
So the only solution is to get the fuck away from everything Microsoft.
No, to be a swastika (Hakenkreuz) it needs to be surrounded by a circle. This is a manja, you see them all the time in Buddhism and the culture that the Nazis stole it from is over 6k years old.
No, the Nazis also used them without circles. And modern neonazis and edgy teenagers also are total fuckwits who don’t really use the CI stylebook of the NSDAP for correct swastika usage. So you can only check this out of context: Some hidden symbol in a washing machine from Asia? Chances are good that this used as an asiatic lucky charm. Those graffiti in your local underpass in a western town? Chances are that they were not drawn by a rouge gang of buddists trying to with you luck.

174·6 days agoWhen companies are not able to produce enough to satisfy demand and are actively stopping selling to certain sectors and harming them, they should lose their patents. RAM companies are actively harming all of us by selling their products to the AI companies and leaving us all without RAM, so we should encourage alternatives.

1·6 days agoI really do not want to stick a camera to my helmet. I’m wearing that helmet as safety gear and I do not believe that it is safe to mount robust things with batteries to something which needs to absorb the impact of a fall.

4·7 days agoI kind of like the idea. Take some pictures while doing other things like riding your bike or going on a hike without having to take out your phone. Take a quick picture while shopping to them to my wife. Get navigation cues without the phone. But they are so creepy

Technology@lemmy.world•Teen Boys Are Using Meta Glasses to Terrorize Girls at High Schools and Middle SchoolsEnglish
27·7 days agoYeah. The kids are just the last part of the chain of failure here. Why is Meta producing such a thing? Why the fuck are parents buying several hundred dollars worth of spy glasses for their children and sending them to school with them without any supervision? And what the fuck is the school doing here? The first report of someone harassing other pupils with such a device should be reason to ban them and take hard discipline measures against the harrasser

World News@lemmy.world•Slovakia discovers Russian backdoors in 279 new traffic cameras — SMS-triggered shell access and passwordless live feeds found in EU-funded rolloutEnglish
30·7 days agoThe current government of the country, led by populist Robert Fico, initially denied reports that the cameras were of Russian origin and rebuffed any security concerns.
We know that russia is trying to disrupt military logistics going from western countries into Ukraine. We saw attacks at train lines. We saw the recent drone attack at ukrainian military cargo planes in Leipzig. We know that russia is using agents to install secret webcams on roads to monitor military traffic. We know that germany switched off its public autobahn webcams because of this. Russia using backdoors in traffic cams is totally something they would do and Fico is lying here

10·11 days agoIt’s not just about backups. If you discontinue the collection of certain data or mess with the data itself before publication, the whole study might get useless. Take those long-term studies researching health outcomes over decades. If you mess with the data collection there, you can’t get clean data back after Trump is dead.

Get a raspi or some thinclient. Every of those sticks I’ve touched was totally crap. Slow, awful software, some come with malware preloaded and the whole experience is crap. There is enough space behind your TV for a raspi.
