As someone who lives in an older style house that totally screws with cell reception “Wi-Fi Calling” makes all the difference

I’m all for smart devices but only the ones I own, that talk to where I say they can. Zigbee and z-wave for the win.

Unfortunately also too many surveillance devices that don’t have an alternative

I’m still onboard with more tech but not where it has the wrong answers:

• do I actually own it?
• what master does it serve?

Clearly the private ownership is part of this dystopia. Even if we were to place limits or safeguards on this surveillance, it probably won’t apply to purchasing private databases

That really needs to change also. That made sense back when it was just recording something in public that a random officer could have seen, but it’s no longer the same thing. No police force could have such large scale comprehensive surveillance and recording based on what an officer could have seen in public .

The fact that you could even have an officer overstep his authority to stalk someone one nationwide for personal reasons, is not just a failure of privacy safeguards, but proof that large scale surveillance is not the same as “what any random officer could have seen”

There needs to be a threshold, beyond which a warrant is required

I do for things where I want to be accurate, but sometimes it seems like I’m the only one

On the other hand I advised my teen to buy the wrong battery because I didn’t click into the results for “what battery do i need to replace in my Subaru key?”

People don’t seem to know how to use the overhead bins or take too many carryons. I’ve had to rearrange people’s suitcases for them, or put mine several seats away, or have the flight attendant take mine. It’s really annoying.

There’s also impatience. The later I board the more likely I am to be standing there a long time behind people futzing around taking their time to get situated regardless of how many of us are waiting.

For me it’s the “good service” side of the coin. Actually it’s specifically “more likely to have a direct flight and not find extra fees to pile on”

Currently the price changes by market conditions and timing. So not everyone pays the same.

Thats a different scale than literally everyone paying a different price. It’s also different than applying all the data they’ve collected from and about you to set a price specifically for you to extract the most profit from you

It depends on the intersection. Yes, some are a placebo, too many are token, but some actually work.

Note that the top “ribbon “ is visible from all of those ribbon choices, while the content pane stuff, like the “About” box are only visible in “Code”

Comments like this are so frustrating to see, as my company goes backwards, moving from Gitlab to GitHub.

I appreciate the hidden camera adds a new layer but this isn’t anything new. Tik tok exists and behavior like this was already too common.

That being said, I wonder if there’s an answer in lower resolution. Is there a resolution low enough to create some privacy but high enough to be useful for AR? That would also make the glasses cheaper

I don’t know about going that far - LLMs can be a great starting point …. As long as you click through to the sources rather than blindly accept

I found it weird there are about 20,000 vehicles of concern for models that sold millions. I wonder what happened, how are those relative few different?

That being said, they are really bright but now that we finally have the adaptive beams enabled, it seems to make a huge difference
