the professor for my CMB graduation required course navajo indian descent, had a gripe against other people that are not of his heritage, so he has a bad attitude, when hes pissed of, because of that. he dint like people contacting about lab work, experience, to protect his perceived reputation, this was the one i had to do a large project in, with alot of research, and thats where i had this annoying lab partner, who acted all elitist, bad timing. getting flak form the prof is one thing, but also getting it from a lab partner is extra irritating, other people thought it was funny, it was not.
i was thinking is this how biotech scientists/employees act, like someones going to steal thier “work and research”?
Yeah, that really was bad timing. The group of people i worked with in the orgchem lab was great though and they did not once comment on the situation in a way that made me feel uncomfortable.
Some profs are awful. I can remember one who told women to not sit in the first 3 rows at his lectures, because “he could smell their period” wtf.
i never took lower division organic lab officially for scientists, i took one for life science(aka bio -related majors)(which is the dumbed down version, sitll hard though). i had no bad experiences with chem lab, either than that it was tied to your lecture classes as part of a large multi-unit course, which i disagreed that it should be 1 class, and it shouldve been 2 seperate classes instead.
it was the graduation research class(basiclaly “prepare” you for lab/research in the field after graduation, but it doesnt count towards getting hired, because they have some nebulous reasons).
i was already annoyed that my first lab partner was unregistered in the class to begin with, and did all the work and dint ask for help. and 2nd one was a total elitist. he practically soured my attitude towards people in labs.
biotech is just not easy field to get into, because of such limited options to get experience.
