If you have a Mastodon account, you can use that to follow Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin users. If desired, Mastodon can even send you a notification every time the account posts.
FYI, PieFed has this feature.

Meh. There’s so few posters if you subscribe to the ‘instance’ ( am I saying that right?) You’ll get nothing but that persons posts
