NASA appears to be pulling its SR-71 Blackbird, the fastest production plane ever made, out of retirement as the Trump administration teases its new line of hypersonic surveillance jets — but doubt…
Seeing Blackbird fly again after all these years would be incredible. I’d love to know what NASA has planned for it.
Higher and faster. Not a successful program, though.
These days we have the X-37, which goes even higher and faster. I’m sure we could drop a computer flight system into any aircraft and make it a drone with sufficient work, too.
I’m thinking it’s because no drone can fly that high or fast. Which gives it an advantage in a world filled with drones.

I love how strange it looks
Why would a drone be incapable of flying higher and faster than a human driven aircraft?
It’s theoretically possible for them to do that. But not at the budgets currently available. This isn’t just any human-driven aircraft.
