“Blah blah blah China is worse though! blah blah blah!!” - people who spend their time here concern trolling about tankies
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
China is at least trying to increase green emissions, but still a massive polluter.
The US is a massive polluter and doubling down.
well if you want hard numbers China produces about 1100GW of energy from coal yearly and the US is sitting at 260GW. so a 7% increase on 260 still deserves what the article says about not coming anywhere near China, even per capita. We would love to see US numbers trending the other direction but the current administration can’t be bothered to interrupt its money grab. China has been holding steady in recent years, which is an accomplishment, but China still uses more coal than the rest of the world combined.
I don’t know how tariffs have affected it between the US and China, but let’s not also forget that a significant part of China’s production is to feed the consumption monster of the US (and the rest of the world).
It was inevitable that coal would come back on the scene with all these data centers popping up. Oil supply is being strained, nuclear is limited and slow, renewables are great but also slow growth. Coal is plentiful still, and right there. And has the best government to support it right now, vs. past ones who were trying to phase it out.
even per capita
Hum… No. Per capita they are basically the same number.
Damn you China apologists are already out full force. Impressive!
“already”?
