It’s clear Sony’s not changing course, but probably still good in general if the industry keeps hearing that physical media is important to people.
Better than writing angry comments is to buy physical over digital, if any of it. Don’t give a cent to their online storefronts if you don’t like that becoming the future.

Comments help too since a lot of PlayStation partners have contracts for showing off their games and some didn’t even know about Sony’s plan to cut physical media, making them lose out on a lot of money if all people do is roast Sony in the comments of their trailers and such. The public image of Sony tanked a lot and their partners are feeling the consequences of it too

This. For all the protesting people are doing, not much is being done that actually hurts the company.
And the physical discs aren’t the problem. People billing it down to that means the problem won’t get solved. Might as well tell Sony they don’t care about the real issue. Since PS4/XB1, games have basically required Internet to play. If the game is delisted, it still won’t play even if you have the disc. Delisting is the real problem. Stopping sales of the game isn’t fine, but it’s forgivable. But let people who own it play it in perpetuity. Or refund their money.

Yeah, I mean that was the generation where games really started to require Internet and/or Day One updates to play. Before that, online was really optional.
Sure, some newer games are fully contained on the disc and 1.0 is playable offline, but from then, more and more weren’t.
“some newer games” is doing a massive disservice to the fact that it remains the vast majority. It is more honest to say some games aren’t playable from disc, but most are.
