    It would be so funny if Sony loses this.

    Ever since digital video games have released ownership has been a grey area, if the courts clarify that consumers own the source code to the games they purchase it would be devastating to many production companies.

      Its not the source code, and nobody ever suggested or thought buying the game meant you owned the source code. What you buy is a copy of the compiled code and assets, which is what everyone assumed.

      The problem is how do you enforce deletion of the copy if it gets resold? Thats why games use licenses now, it was the path of least resistance that also gave the publishers more control than they should have had.
