Cod Blops 2 was peak CoD IMO. MW and MW2 was where they really figured out the formula. BlOps 1 was where they figured out it needed to still be fun and innovative. MW3 kinda sucked, and BlOps 2 was where they got everything right for the last time. Ghosts was still recovering from all the mistakes of 3, and BlOps 3 completely lost the plot. CoD occasionally remembers that simple gunplay was what made it famous, but nowadays, all online games are about whale fishing, so we’ll never get better than BlOps 2.

Technology@lemmy.world•Florida officer used Flock camera database 717 times to track estranged wife's vehicle, affidavit saysEnglish
41·12 days agoI find the funniest part about this case is that flock has detailed logs on everything he did. Who could have guessed that the company dedicated to spying on everyone without a warrant would also be spying on the cops using the service? You wanna take bets on whether or not his usage was used to train an AI?

Technology@lemmy.world•Ubuntu is growing faster on Windows 11 than on native Linux PCs, says CanonicalEnglish
31·12 days agoUbuntu has dropped off a cliff in Linux market share. Fedora serves as a near-replacement in UX, and there are some distros that are so optimized as “pre-configured”, they left it in the dust, to say nothing of how Canonical keeps trying to make Ubuntu worse. It used to be famously “Debian but easy”, but now just using Debian sounds like way less of a hassle.

0·24 days agoI’m always amazed at Rockstar’s ability to sell a game with the simple sales pitch of “It’s GTA”. We’ve basically seen nothing about this game, and they aren’t well known for managing their existing games well, yet everyone is convinced this will be
- Game of the year
- Highest grossing game of the decade
- Most innovative piece of software ever
Despite only seeing a pre-rendered trailer up to now. We don’t even know any members of the cast on IMDb.
I think we’ve completely lose the plot on game development.
Around Claude 4.8, AI because actually good at identifying code bugs. We’re basically running bug hunter AI models 24/7 now, because malicious actors are almost certainly doing the same thing. The bad news is there is no end in sight, the CVE discovery rate is going to stay high.
